KARACHI: Death row convict Shafqat Hussain will be hanged to death on August 4, Aaj News reported.
He was convicted for killing a seven year old child but when the moratorium on death penalty was lifted this year, rights activist protested. He was sentenced to death in 2004.
They said he was underage when he was convicted.
Hussain was 14 when he was charged, and was tortured into making a confession, his lawyers said.
In June, an executive inquiry was launched to determine whether Hussain was a teenager at the time of his sentence or not. The inquiry however, concluded that he was 23 years old when the punishment was handed to him.
This the fifth time he has been his hanging has been announced. Orders for his hanging have been postponed four times till now.
