ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated on Saturday as Shawwal Moon has been sighted in many parts of country, Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said Friday.
Addressing a press conference at local hotel, after presiding over meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said that the sky was overcast in many parts of the country on Friday evening.
However, they have received authentic testimonies of the moon sighting from various cities of including Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Jacccobabad, etc.
On the basis of which, the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee announced that Eid-ul-Fitr would be celebrated across the country on Saturday.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramazan- ul-Mubarak.
Many key religious scholars, members of Ruat-e-Hilal Committee, and Met officials were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, the meetings of zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees were held simultaneously in all key cities of the country to collect evidences.
The body gathered evidences about moon sighting from all the four provinces of the country and meeting of Zonal moon-sighting committees were held simultaneously in their respective headquarters.
