KARACHI: The Sindh Apex Committee has decided to speed up action against terrorists and their facilitators to root out the menace of terrorism.
This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, here on Sunday.
He was briefing media after the meeting of the Sindh Apex Committee at the C.M. House.
Memon said that the meeting decided to tight the noose around those elements playing in the hands of anti-state agencies. Steps would also be taken against those using extortion, Fitra and other fundings for terrorism or assisting terrorists, so that such activities could be prevented.
He stated that action would also be taken against those `madaris’ that impart training or persuade people to resort to terrorism.
The meeting took stock of the actions that have been taken so far.
It was decided to speed up the process of prosecution against the arrested `terrorists’.
The Sindh Apex Committee meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan,Corps Commander. Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, DG Rangers Sindh, Maj. Gen. Bilal Akbar, IGP Sindh and other members of the committee.
The meeting exchanged views regarding action against criminals under the National Action Plan.
The overall law and order situation in Sindh was also discussed during the meeting. The performance of Sindh police in this regard was appreciated. As a result of action, the crime rate has declined.
It was pointed out at the meeting that in the past operations were conducted against criminals and people took sigh of relief temporarily.
However, this time the action against the criminals would be taken to its logical conclusion. Operation would continue and crimes and terrorism would be rooted out.
The meeting appreciated the killing of notorious dacoit Nazro Narejo. The help of Intelligence Bureau was also sought in the action against the dacoit.
Memon said that under the National Action Plan, drive would be intensified against defunct organizations that are in a way used for terrorism purposes.
He said that terrorism would be eliminated from the province of Sindh.
Memon said that as compared with other provinces, crime rate was less in Sindh.
He was that the meeting also decided to form a task force which will be led by Home Secretary and representatives of Rangers and police would be included.
Memon said that the PPP is in majority in Sindh and the powers of Rangers would be enhanced and Assembly would approve this.
He said that the Rangers take action with the consent of the Chief Minister.
