The rupee moved with marginal fluctuations against the dollar on money market on Monday, dealers said on Saturday. The rupee shed three-paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.72 and Rs 101.74 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, lost 15-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.70 and Rs 102.90 respectively, but it gained one rupee versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 112.50 and Rs 113.50 respectively, they said. In the first Asian trade, the euro fell, hurt by uncertainty over whether a near-bankrupt Greece can secure more funding as its European partners demanded tough reforms in return for throwing a life-line to the debt-strapped nation.
The euro last traded at $1.1145, down 0.2 percent on the day. Earlier on Monday, it had slid as far as $1.1090, having stood at $1.11625 in late US trade on Friday. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.47, the greenback was at 3.7990 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2085 in terms of the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee-dollar parity remained stagnant amid a sluggish trading trend on the local currency market on Monday.
The dollar resumed trading at its last Saturday closing of Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 on buying and selling side, respectively, and hardly see any change in its demand and supply situation and its opening rate continued to prevail till close of trading. The rupee remained under pressure and depreciated against the pound sterling that was traded at Rs 158.20 and Rs 159.00 on buying and selling counter compared with last week closing of Rs 158.00 and Rs 158.25, respectively.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against the rupee on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Monday.
The dollar opened at Rs 102 (buying) and Rs 102.20 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 102 (buying) and Rs 102.20 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 157 (buying) and Rs 157.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 157 (buying) and Rs 157.50 (selling).
