ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said the whole nation was untied together in 1965 War to defeat an enemy with overwhelming resources.
The Minister expressed these views while chairing a meeting regarding preparations to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Defense Day of September, 6 1965.
He said that it was indeed the national fervour which inflicted a defeat on India and overwhelmed an enemy which had numerical strength and resources.
Pervaiz Rashid said that in the war, both our valiant Armed Forces and the whole nation, were united against the enemy and foiled their nefarious designs.
“We should never forget the contribution of poets, singers, artists, musicians and writers who injected a great deal of enthusiasm among the ranks of soldiers and people of Pakistan,” the Minister added.
He urged media to educate the children about the country’s history that how the forces rendered supreme and selfless sacrifices and the nation as a whole, stood to the occasion to defend the State.
He emphasized to renew the spirit of 1965 as Armed Forces are still engaged in a war against a hidden enemy.
He said ” with the resilience of the Pakistani nation, we will overcome all challenges confronting us.”
In the meeting, the concerned departments of the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage gave their detailed presentations regarding various programmes and events to be organized by these departments.
The Minister directed the officials to highlight the spirit of national unity, demonstrated during 1965 war and project the true narrative of one nation against any aggression of enemy and for the defence of motherland.
He further added that all aspects of national spirit and a society of an era of 1965 War should be truly reflected in the programmes and events being charted out to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
Pervaiz Rashid also underlined the need to highlight the spirit of normalcy and improved law and order situation during the course of war as people from all walks of life continued their routine activities unaffected.
The meeting was attended by Director General ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, Secretary IB & NH Muhammad Azem, PIO Rao Tehsin Ali Khan, and other senior officials of the Ministry.
