WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Head Coach Waqar Younis announced that Sarfaraz Ahmed will be the next Twenty 20 captain and the decision to keep him out of the Sri Lankan series was not part of a conspiracy.
While talking to the BBC Urdu, Younis clarified that he does not make every decision alone for the team. For each tour there is a tours association in which the head coach, manager and captain finalizes everything through mutual decisions.
Pakistani sports fanatics caused an uproar when Sarfaraz Ahmed was dropped in two matches in Sir Lankan series, which eventually led Waqar Younis to diffuse the controversial rumors of lobbying against Sarfaraz Ahmed in the team.
He said that Sarfarz was dropped before as well and Rizwan played in his place. He explained that whenever any player is dropped from the team, they are taken into confidence first through reasoning. He added that Twenty 20 is a different format which requires variety.
He showed his disappointment upon disregarding Pakistan’s performance in Sri Lankan series and highlighting an issue which doesn’t even exist.
