RAWALPINDI: A Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Rawalpindi Monday issued showcase notices to SP, additional SP Adiala Jail, SP and SHO Saddar Beroni to appear before the court today (Tuesday) for their failure to make arrangements in the prison in Benazir Bhutto murder trial case.
The court also summoned inspector Kashif Riaz, a complainant in Benazir Bhutto murder case who also happened to be the investigation officer in the said murder case. It also abandoned the testimony of Professor Azam Yousaf, the witness of the prosecution. During the hearing, the court accepted the plea of Naheed Khan and directed the prosecution to supply her copies of trail proceedings of Benazir murder case.
Khan had approached the ATC to obtain the trail of related documents including the investigation report, challan and statement of witnesses after Javed Rehman, a driver of Zardari House, who testified before the court and alleged that Razzaq Mirani, an employee of Bilawal House, Karachi opened the sunroof of the vehicle in which Ms Bhutto was onboard on the direction of Naheed Khan.
Talking to the media, Ms Khan said that after examining the court documents and consulting her lawyers, she would decide then whether to be a party in the following case or not. She said that being loyal to Benazir Bhutto; she is under the obligation to assist the court to get the culprits behind the bars. The court adjourned the case till September 21.
