KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has directed stern action against the land grabbers in the metropolis.
He also directed the deputy commissioners to clear the encroachments from the government land in their respective districts.
A statement issued from the Commissioner office said that the deputy commissioners have cleared 1,770 acres of government land from encroachment in various districts.
It said that on Thursday the Commissioner chaired a meeting to review the measures taken against encroachments.
He directed that stern action be taken against the land grabbers and every step be taken for the removal of encroachments.
The Commissioner said that encroachment was one of the factors leading to terrorism in the city and as such continued drive against land grabbers should be undertaken.
He said that encroachment is a challenge and that the administration would tackle with this problem very strictly.
It was decided at the meeting that the deputy commissioners concerned would undertake planned measures. Every week the police in collaboration with the concerned departments would prepare a plan for the respective districts for concerted action.
