KARACHI: The heatwave in Karachi will persist for the fourth consecutive day, with mercury expected to hit the 41 degree mark today, Aaj News reported.
The temperature recorded early in the morning was 34 degree centigrade, and it is expected to increase by six degrees. The met department has forecast that the heatwave will subside by Tuesday.
The current weather condition is attributed to depression in central Arabian Sea. Doctors recommended citizens to stay indoors between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. When going outdoors people must carry water bottles and stay hydrated.
The Sindh government has declared an emergency in all the hospitals across Karachi. On Sunday 12 victims of heatstroke were reported from hospitals across the city, however no deaths were reported.
Earlier, a heatwave in July consumed over 1200 lives in Sindh.
