WEB DESK: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed with country’s security situation, ongoing targeted operation in Karachi, rehabilitation work in FATA and the recent visit of US National Security Advisor Susan Rice.
Reports said the two leaders exchanged views about the Afghanistan situation.
The army chief apprised the premier of the progress made so far in the operation Zarb-i-Azb against militants in North Waziristan tribal region, which entered its last phase last month with the launch of a ground offensive in the Shawal Valley.
The meeting decided to continue targeted operation against extortionists, terrorists and their facilitators till its logical conclusion. General Sharif also briefed the premier regarding his recent meetings with the US National Security Advisor and the German Foreign Minister.
The COAS also discussed with the prime minister the security situation on the Line of Control (LoC), Working Boundary and the western boundary of Pakistan.
