LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Thursday that 31 cases were registered in connection with Kasur child abuse scandal.
It was stated in reports submitted by JIT head DIG Abu Bakr Khuda Baksh before Lahore High Court Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik who was hearing petitions regarding Kasur scandal.
The JIT head further submitted that 25 cases were registered against 20 accused under Section 7 of the Anti- Terrorism Act.
He said that the investigation had been completed and challans were being submitted in the anti-terrorism court. However, recommendation had been made to quash six cases, he added.
The court was further apprised that another six cases were registered under sections of Criminal Procedure Code and challans were being submitted in the ordinary court concerned whereas recommendation had been made to quash five cases.
However, the court adjourned further hearing till November 4 due to absence of the petitioners’ counsel.
The petitions were filed by Sana Murad and others pleading for directions to refer the Child abuse cases to Anti-Terrorism Court.
They contended that the act of criminals fall under definition of extortion and as per law, an anti-terrorism court was authorized to hold the trial.
