WEB DESK: General Raheel Sharif has been listed among the 500 most Influential Muslims from Pakistan in a recent study.
The Royals Islamic Studies Center compiled a list of influential leaders from the Muslim world, where Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri made it.
The RISC study had 13 categories which included politics, media, scholar and extremist among others.
In Politics, PTI Chief Imran Khan, Prime Minister Nawaz sharif and Gen Raheel Sharif made it to the list from Pakistan. Gen Sharif has been included in the list for the first time due to his work against wiping out Taliban from Pakistan. He led operation Zarb-e-Azab.
Under Philanthropic charity and development, Abdul Sattar Edhi shines with his largest and most organized social welfare system in Pakistan working for past 50 years.
The list acknowledged Malala Yousufzai and Asma Jehangir for their work for social issues in Pakistan. In 2014, at the age of 17 she became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
In the scholars category, it included Dr Tahir ul Qadri, Dr Farhat Hashmi, Ayatollah Muhammad Hussain and Dr Akbar Ahmed from Pakistan.
The popular vocalist Abida Parveen is also among the influential list with Zaid Hamid and Amir Liaquat in Media category.
