In its first phase elections were held in 12 districts of Punjab and 8 districts of Sindh.
Atleast 12 people were killed in Khairpur disctrct, the hometown of Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah when political activists from Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz clashed. Scores others were rushed to the hospital after they received injuries.
At a polling booth in Khairpur, CM Sindh’s niece, Irshad Shah was caught red handed on tape casting fake votes.
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah also cast votes in their hometown.
As part of the PM’s security protocol a polling station was shut down for over a hour and a half, causing a protest to erupt by the waiting voters outside.
The Local Bodies Election will decide who governs each neighborhood.
