Firmness prevailed on the money market on Friday as the rupee managed to hold the stability versus the dollar in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee for the third day in a row, sustained the present levels against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.50 and Rs 104.51 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee posted further gain of five-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 104.30 and Rs 104.50 respectively; however, it shed 30-paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.80 and Rs 116.80 respectively, they added.
At the weekend, the dollar trod water against the yen and euro as investors were wary ahead of the US non-farm payrolls report, which could influence chances of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates before year-end.
Economists expect US non-farm payrolls data, due later in the global day, to show that employers added 203,000 jobs in September, according to a Reuters poll. The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at Rs 65.51, the dollar was at 4.4400 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.3571 in relation to the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The dollar-rupee parity remained unchanged at the local currency markets of Lahore on Friday.
Currency dealers said the dollar resumed trading on higher note at Rs 104.45 and Rs 104.65 on buying and selling counters, respectively, as against Rs 104.40 and Rs 104.60 on Thursday. In the wake of lackluster conditions, the greenback was traded at Rs 104.40 and Rs 104.60 on buying and selling counters, respectively.
The pound sterling was purchased and sold at Rs 157 and Rs 158 as against Thursday’s closing rates of Rs 157.50 and Rs 158.50, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar remained firm against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 161 (buying) and Rs 161.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 161 (buying) and Rs 161.50 (selling).
