WEB DESK: Zimbabwe stands on the verge of their first-ever series win over Pakistan in any format — and their first-ever series win over a Top 10 world cricket team, with the exception of Bangladesh, in 14 years.
In Pakistan’s tour to Zimbawe, Pakistan won the first ODI. The second ODI ended with a controversial decision as the empire thought there was inadequate daylight for winding up the match.
Pakistani cricket lovers poured out their outrage on social media regarding the controversial end of the match.
Commentators called Zimbawe as a team which redeemed itself and performed well in the second ODI. Pakistan Captain Azhar Ali took the high road, acknowledging his team’s own batting failures.
“It was a lovely game, Malik and Yamin made us comeback in the game when it looked like a one-sided game. Zimbabwe played really well, we could have restricted them to under 250, but they played well at the end. But we lost too many wickets at the start,” reported Inquistor.com.
Zimbabwe set a target of 277 runs and restricted Pakistan on 76 for six wickets. Pakistan’s breakthrough came with Shoaib Malik and Aamer Yamin partnering to a 111-run stand. Zimbabwe was still five runs in ahead when the game was called off.
Zimbabwe stands a chance to make history against Pakistan in this series— if only they win it.
