WEB DESK: Pakistan army spokesman, Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa, on Friday called upon international community to initiate a co-ordinated approach against Daesh, declaring the terrorist group a threat for the entire world. “Daesh is a threat for entire world against which the world community must come up with joint and co-ordinated efforts,” Bajwa said at a press briefing in Washington.
“In Pakistan, there is zero-tolerance for Daesh. The terrorist group can’t defeat international forces,” he affirmed. About the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in restive tribal areas along Afghan border, Bajwa said 90 percent of the offensive has been completed; however, he did not give any time frame for its completion. “After operation in South and North Waziristan, many of the terrorists entered Khyber Agency and many crossed Afghan border but they will be defeated soon,” he said.
Bajwa said Kashmir is an outstanding dispute and its resolution is imperative for peace and security. Bajwa’s press briefing came as Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif held key meetings with US civil and military leadership at Pentagon and White House during five-day visit to Washington.
