RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif Wednesday met US Secretary of State John Kerry and discussed regional security issues, including Afghanistan and India,besides the need and measures for regional stability.
During the meeting, the COAS, who is on five-day visit to the United States, highlighted the need for resolution of Kashmir issue, according to tweets by Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa on social media.
The two sides discussed the Afghan-owned reconciliation process, challenges and way forward.
General Raheel highlighted Pakistan’s perspective of regional security and reiterated the desire to solidify Pak-US relations based on mutual interest and respect.
The US Secretary of State welcomed the delegation and emphasised that the US relations with Pakistan were independent of all other countries.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions and enormous sacrifices in the fight against terror.
