ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has introduced online mapping of polling stations for local bodies elections.
This innovative use of technology experimental exercise will be held in the local government elections of announced for Nov 30, 2015.
This functionality is provided on a pilot basis to assist voters, polling agents, media and observers to locate and identify polling stations.
From Monday onward, ecp.gov.pk will feature locations of each polling station, displayed in a satellite view, on a map, or in a recent photo. So any voter may search the location by Union Council, Ward, or station name.
The photos and map locations were compiled under the direction of the Returning Officers, and though ECP has made reasonable efforts to provide accurate information, any discrepancies or differences between this website and the polling scheme published by the District Returning Officer have no legal effect.
The ECP has expressed hope that the pilot project will help facilitate voters to access and increase transparency to the polling process.
Now it has become easier for interested persons to visit the election commission’s website and utilize the new functionality.
