WEB DESK: The rupee moved cautiously against the dollar on the money market on Thursday in the process of trading, dealers said.
The rupee inched up by one-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.49 and Rs 105.50 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee however drifted lower in terms of the dollar, losing 10-paisa for buying and selling at Rs 105.60 and Rs 105.80 respectively, they said.
The rupee gained 45-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 114.80 and Rs 115.80 respectively, they added. In the fourth Asian trade, the dollar stood at three-month highs against a basket of major currencies following a jump in US Treasury yields as Federal Reserve officials hammered home the message that a December “liftoff” in US rates is a distinct possibility.
In her first public comments since the Fed’s meeting last week, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Wednesday laid out what now appears the base case at the US central bank-the country is ready for higher interest rates. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 65.64, the US currency was available at 4.2970 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was at 6.3446 in relation to the Chinese yuan. Inter bank buy/sell rates for the taka against the dollar on Thursday: 78.19-78.20 (previous 78.14-78.18).

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained weak against the US dollar on the local currency market on Thursday. According to the currency dealers, the dollar resumed trading at its overnight closing of Rs 105.40 and Rs 105.75 for buying and selling rates, respectively.
As a result of fresh buying, the dollar gained 10 paisa for buying and selling at Rs 105.50 and Rs 105.85, respectively. However, the rupee-pound sterling parity stayed unchanged amid sluggish trading trend. The pound was traded at Rs 162.00 and Rs 162.70 on buying and selling counter, respectively, the dealers said.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday. The dollar opened at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 104 (buying) and Rs 104.25 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling).
