WEB DESK: We are just a day ahead of 18th December. The day which will witness the biggest clash in Bollywood’s recent history as two mega flicks, Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale are slated to hit silver screens this day, across the border.
While majority are of the opinion that this would be a mega clash, there are others who argue that ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ are too far contrasting with each other, to be considered competing films.
Firstly, they both belong to different genres – Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’ has all the necessary makings of a superhit blockbuster –the SRK-Kajol jodi, fresh romance with Kriti Sanon-Varun Dhawan and of course sports cars with a whole lot of action.
On the contrary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus is an epic historical romance drama with intense visual cinematic appeal. It will not only have snippets from the past but well-directed battle scenes, grand costumes and sets.
Instead of picking one over the other, audiences might consider watching both Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale at different times during their run in theatres.
However, given Shah Rukh Khan’s enormous fan-following, predictions are that fans might in fact favour ‘Dilwale’, given it is a commercial film.
‘Bajirao Mastani’ on the other hand also makes for a winning watch since it stars one of Bollywood’s favourite couples, both on and offscreen – Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.
Releasing near the Christmas holiday season, both the period drama and nostalgic romance, will surely reap in soaring profits.
What will you prefer watching : Dilwale or Bajirao Mastani? Whatever your choice is, the count down begins now. Just a few more hours to go and the wait for the much anticipated films of the year will be over.
So brace yourselves and book your tickets before your tickets before it is too late and you miss the very first show.
