QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday said Pakistani defense forces were fully prepared to meet any challenge to national security.
“The threats faced by the country today are not traditional and these should be viewed in the global and regional context,” he said while addressing after witnessing Fire Power demonstration of Pakistan Air Force at Sonmiani range in Balochistan.
The prime minister reaffirmed the unwavering determination of the country to combat terrorism and said PAF had a key role in counterterrorism operations with close cooperation of Army.
Appreciating the combat readiness and professionalism of the air force, he said the significance of air power and its role in achieving strategic objectives had increased manifold in contemporary era. The bravery, professionalism and enthusiasm of our air warriors clearly reflected that PAF was second to none.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said JF-17 Thunder fighter jet was our national pride and assured that the government would extend all possible assistance to augment the PAF capability. He was confident that it will continue to live up to the expectations of the nation.
The prime minister also met the mother of martyr pilot Maryam Mukhtar at the ceremony.
He said the entire nation was proud of Maryam Mukhtar, who laid down her life for strengthening the defence of the country.
