KARACHI: Four suspects have been arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for their alleged involvement in Safoora carnage and other terrorist attacks, Aaj News reported.
The suspects Khalid Yusuf Bari, Saleem Ahmed, Mohammad Suleman Saeed and Adil Masood Butt allegedly provided financial support and brainwashed the accused to prepare them for killing of members of the Ismaili community in a bus near Safoora Goth, the chief CTD Raja Umar Khattab said at a press conference on Friday.
Adil Butt had studied in the US and was heading a private accounting college. Butt was formerly part of late Dr Israr Ahmed’s Tanzeem Islami, but had left it to join to Al-Qaeda.
The wives of two of the arrested suspects have also accused of brainwashing educated and rich women through sermons and videos about the militant Islamic State (IS) group and other terrorist outfits.
Butt confessed his involvement with Al-Qaeda, according to Khattab.
