LODHRAN: The Election Commission has made final arrangements for the by-elections in the constituency NA-154 Lodhran-1 being held on Wednesday. Polling will begin at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm non-stop. The governing party’s Siddique Baloch and Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s Jahangir Tareen are among the 20 contesting candidates.
There are 370,150 registered votes in the constituency falling vacant following a verdict by the Punjab election tribunal favouring the Insaf’s candidate in connection with his petition. The tribunal de-seated the governing party candidate, Muhammad Siddique Khan Baloch, and ordered the re-election.
Law enforcers have declared 35 polling stations sensitive. Army has been deployed at these polling stations.
The Punjab government has banned crowds of more than five people to stand near the polling stations and all display of weapons.
Meanwhile, PTI chief Imran Khan, wished Jahangir Tareen the best of luck in a Twitter message.
