WEB DESK: Funeral prayers for the Mardan blast victims have been offered with no representations from government officials in attendance, Aaj News reported.
Sources report that none of the people in authority attended the funeral prayers of the poor victims including that of the guard who saved numerous lives on the cost of his own.
The incident took place on Tuesday outside the NADRA building office in Mardan when a suicide bomber tried to enter the building. The bomber blew him up when the guard stopped him from entering. Security officials claimed that 8 to 10 kg of explosive material was used.
Sources report that at least 26 were dead and dozens wounded in the blast. The dead also include two NADRA officials and a child.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistan is fighting Taliban and other insurgents in its northwest border regions, who often target government and security forces.
