KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhter on Friday extended conditional support for Karachi operation led by Rangers, Aaj News reported.
While talking to BBC Urdu Sairbeen program on Aaj News, he said the situation in the city had worsened recently and MQM wanted Karachi operation to continue. However, the culprits should not be hid but presented before court within 24 hours.
Akhter expressed concern over limited powers of mayor and said powers must be devolved in accordance with the constitution of Pakistan.
He said he would go to court, given that powers were not devolved to local government.
