Syed Ali Gilani in Srinagar said that before the farcical elections,Mufti Sayeed repeatedly said that he would pursue policy of battle of ideas, however, after assuming power, he was using guns, army and police to muzzle the voice of the people, Kashmir Media Service reported.
He said hat senior resistance leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt, had once again been booked under the draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).
“Masarrat Aalam has been booked 31 times under PSA since 1990. This is sheer human rights violation and state terrorism. We demand his immediate release,” he said.
He said that 14,000 youth and political activists had been arrested from 2009 to 2015 in occupied Kashmir. Some 494 Kashmiri detainees are still lodged in jails in and outside the territory, he added.
Syed Ali Gilani appealed to the international human rights organizations to take cognizance of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees and ensured their release.
