Najam Sethi guaranteed that it will be the most exciting event of the year, if happened in Pakistan.
“We have very realistic expectations with the event. This is our first time and we want it to take off, we’re absolutely confident that. PSL would be improved in future,” Najam Sethi said in an interview with Abu Dhabi based newspaper `The National’.
To a question about the prices the franchises fetched, he said that it were better than our expectations, adding, the incredible thing was that apart from one franchise, all of them bid for all five teams.
He said there will be pressure on us to add another team immediately, but it would not be done as it was the plan to demonstrate incredible success so that the asset value goes up. The sixth team we want to sell for much more than the five teams, he added.
“But if we do it next year, we will not get the same sort of money we could get two years down the line. It’s not fixed in yet but PSL’s model has eight teams,” he said.
To a question regarding timeline to bringing the league back to Pakistan, he said that all cricket must come back to Pakistan but until suitable time, we will continue to play outside.
