KARACHI: Young and innocent Bisma was laid to rest amid tears– as the country blasted VIP movements and the menace they are to citizens.
The funeral of the 10-month-old bay took place at Lyari’s Gabol Park, which has been a historical constituency of the Pakistan People’s Party. Ironically, the same political party became the reason for her death.
A 10-month old baby died during a road blockade to Civil Hospital, as part of security protocol for chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aaj News reported.
Bilawal was visiting the Civil Hospital to inaugurate a trauma centre.
Bisma, the baby’s father, protested outside the Civil Hospital amid tears, holding her lifeless body in his arms. He said he was not allowed to enter the Civil Hospital, as part of Bilawal’s security protocol.
Staff at the hospital said that they could have saved the baby had she arrived 10 minutes earlier.
Meanwhile, education minister, Nisar Kuhro in a much criticized remark said that Bilawal’s security is very important. “I apologize for the death to Bisma’s parents.”
Cheif Minister, Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident. However it seems as if it was a half-hearted attempt. “The baby died because she was very sick. It is wrong to blame the VIP protocol.”

Condemnation poured out on social media.
We must condemn VIP culture but we should not blame just one political family for that remember two ex PMs of that family were murdered — Hamid Mir (@HamidMirGEO) December 23, 2015
Unforgivable that a child dies bec Bilawal’s VIP protocol prevented her father from getting her to hospital in time. Condemnable VIP culture
