KARACHI: Water shortfall will start on Tuesday in different areas of the city after 10 million gallon water has gone waste from the 84 inch diameter burst water pipeline, because of inefficiency of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), Aaj News reported on Sunday.
The old and rusty water pipeline burst when KWSB team was doing repairing work on it without closing water supply on Saturday near Aziz Bhatti Park in Gulshan-e-Iqbal which has created flood-like situation in University Road and adjacent areas.
Water could not yet be drained out from there after passage of 30 hours which has resulted in terrible traffic jam. Residents and students of educational institutes are facing great difficulty.
Sources said the supply had been made on Saturday before the incident took place, so people had enough water for basic needs, however the other day when supply could not be made the issue of water shortage in the relevant areas would arise.
“This is interesting to know that, extra water supply will be made tomorrow in some areas of Gulistan-e-Johar and district Central because it will be necessary to distribute water through different pipelines after closure of the affected water pipeline to save other pipelines from bursting,” said the sources.
