WEB DESK: Bacteria infest our teeth, even when we take good care of our teeth. They mix with food leftovers to form a sticky layer called dental plaque.
If plaque stays on your teeth and hardens into tartar, only a dentist or dental hygienist can remove it.
Here are 7 ways to prevent tartar from accumulating on your teeth.
1- Brush regularly twice day for two minutes. A 30 second scrub will not help. Use a brush which fits into your mouth, with soft bristles.
2. Studies have found that electronic brushes do a better job at cleaning teeth. So invest in your teeth, go ahead and buy an electronic brush.
4- No matter how much you brush, you need to floss every day as it is the only way you can remove plaque.
5- Use a mouth wash and rinse daily.
6- Watch your diet. Bacteria lives on sugary starchy food. Drink plenty of water before and after meals.
7- Don’t smoke. Smokers are more likely to have tartar.
