PESHAWAR: The Apex Committee that was met under the Chairmanship of Goveror Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan here Friday decided to form a high level probe committee led by Commissioner Peshawar division to investigate security arrangements made on the day of deadly terrorists attack on Bacha Khan University.
The committee will identify elements responsible for negligence in security of the university — that claimed about 22 people were killed and dozens other injured — and was directed to submit its report within five days.
This decision was taken during an extra ordinary meeting of the Apex Committee held here at Governor House in the wake of Bacha Khan University attack.
Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak, Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayatur Rehman, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani and Additioanl Chief Secretary FATA Aslam Kamboh and Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Acting Inspector General Frontier Corps KP Brigadior Qasier Ali, Commandant Frontier Constablary Laiqat Khan and other senior officers attended.
The committee reviewed the development and progress made in the investigation of terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University.
The committee was told that on credible information, effective action had been taken against the gang and facilitators involved in the horrific attack.
The political and military leadership on this occasion reiterated their strong commitment and firm resolve to bring the killers of innocent children and citizens to justice and they would be dealt with iron hands.
They said the terrorists have challenged honour of the nation by attacking innocent students in Bacha Khan University and would not be spared.
The meeting also reviewed progress on National Action Plan (NAP) besides law and order situation in KP and Fata.
The committee decided to review protective measures put in placed for all educational institutes of the province and action would be taken against those, who did not take mandatory security measures for safety of their schools.
The committee stressed the need for effective measures for solution of problems related to border management for countering the menace of terrorism.
The committee said proposals regarding capacity of Police and Frontier Constabulary and implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) were being sent to the Federal Government and expressed the hope that Federal Government would take cogent actions in matters related to the Federation.
The members of the Committee offered Dua and special prayers for eternal peace of the martyrs of Bacha Khan University and Karakhano market attacks. Earlier the Governor welcomed the participants of the meeting.
The governor said the nation was with victims’ families in their hours of need and their sacrifices would not go waste. He said the facilators of terrorists would also be brought to justice.
