KARACHI: Nominated mayor for Karachi and Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Waseem Akhter on Saturday said why were local bodies elections held when the Sindh government had to hold back powers? How would the elected representatives work without powers?, reported Aaj News.
“Every single body knows that local government powers are with the chief minister. MQM people are in majority in Karachi, however their elected representatives have no power,” he said while talking to Aaj News.
He said the Sindh government had before the elections promised to make powerful LB representatives, however it did not fulfill its promise.
