PESHAWAR: The first polio case from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was confirmed on Saturday, Aaj News reported.
A resident of Shakarpura one-year old Muhammad Muaz has been diagnosed with the crippling disease.
According to the health ministry this is the first case of the year from the province. The boy’s parents had refused to vaccinate the child, it was said.
Starting from 2015, 53 polio cases have been confirmed in the country, of which 17 belong to KPK. Pakistan remains the only polio endemic country in the world.
