WEB DESK: Pakistan is ready to face New Zealand in the three-match series of One Day Internationals starting tomorrow at Wellington.
Pakistan faced two big defeats in T20 series which they lost 2-1 under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi.
Azhar Ali will be in the driving seat of Pakistan in ODI series while Kane Williamson will captain New Zealand team in place of Brandon McCullum, who is out from the top 11 players because of Injury, though he will come back in the third match.
The match will be played in Basin Reserve, Wellington where Pakistan lost last T20 by 95 runs. The last ODI played at this venue was way back in 2005 between New Zealand and Australia.
Captain Azhar Ali said, “The pitch looks hard and wind factor will be there. We will select top 11 according to the conditions.”
Pakistan won against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe but lost against Bangladesh and England in the last four series, on the other hand New Zealand team are in top form as they won last seven ODIs out of nine matches.
Ross Taylor, Tim Southee and Brendon McCullum are all unavailable because of injury,
Pakistan will depend on their fast bowling line-up as the world considers them in the top attacks with the likes of Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Rahat Ali and Anwar Ali.
The match will start at 03:00 am PST and 11:00 am local on Monday.
The second and third ODI schedules on 28 and 31 January at Napier and Auckland respectively.
