KARACHI: The Sindh Government has decided to transfer the management of government hospitals to privately run not-for-profit organization, Aaj News reported.
The government has decided to transfer the management of 64 health centres and hospital to private entities on five to 10-year agreement.
Five not-for-profit organizations have been identifed, of which HANDS will be handed over a health center in Gadap and Bin Qasim.
The Children Hospital at North Karachi, and another hospital in Ibrahim Hyderi will be given to Indus Hospital. Civil Hospital in Thatta and Badin will be handed over to a British not-for-profit organization, Merlin.
Ambulance service in Thatta and Sujawal have been handed over to the Aman Foundation.
According to the agreement medicine and machinery for the hospitals will be bought by the private entities, however funds for the purchase will be provided for by the government.
