LAHORE: Scores of visually impaired people blocked the metro bus stop as their protest entered its third day, Aaj News reported.
The protesters demanded a three percent job quota in the government departments.
The protest ended after DCO Lahore met them, and assured them that they will get job letters by Friday.
However, several protesters claimed that these claims were “empty promises”. “We are not satisfied by the verbal promise. It seems like just another statement to placate us,” said a protester.
The government had promised jobs to visually impaired people three years back.
Many of the protesters are Phd, Masters and graduates. However, the government has not yet decided what sort of positions they can work at, a reporter on site said.
