LAHORE: Pakistan veterans breezed into the final of the over fifty international veteran cricket tournament beating Sri Lanka Quadrangular by 32 runs at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Maitland Place, Colombo on Monday.
It was Pak teams fifth successive win of the tournament earning the distinction of the only team of the event to win its all league matches, said the information made available to APP from Sri Lanka.
Pakistan Veterans will take on Sri Lanka Cavaliers in the final tomorrow, Tuesday at SSC Ground, Colombo. Pakistan Veterans elected to bat after winning the toss posted 219 runs for 5 wickets in allocated 25 overs.
Najeeb Sadiq played brilliantly and played a master knock of 88 with 6 fours and 3 sixes in only 41 balls. He thrashed the opponents bowlers with authority and prowess hammering delightful shots to all parts of the ground for the entertainment of the crowd.
Dastageer Butt was the second highest scorer with quick fired unbeaten 50 runs with 6 fours and one six off 27 balls. Khawaja Kaleem Zia scored 26 with 2 fours and 2 sixes in 10 balls.
For Sri Lanka Quadrangular Team Vijay Ardena took 2 wickets for 41 runs. Lary, Kreshan and Raju got 1 wicket each for 28, 46 and 47 runs respectively. When Sri Lanka batted Pak veterans mix attack of spin and pace destroyed their innings and as the home side managed 187 runs for loss of 9 wickets in 25 overs.
Their notable scorers were Faishen 55 with 4 fours off 39 balls, Kreshan and Ranjan scored 27 and 22 runs consuming 15 and 14 balls respectively. Pak veterans former test bowler Akram Raza bagged 3 wickets for 36 runs and Javed Hayat and Sajid Ali took 2 wickets apiece for 20 and 41 runs respectively.
