WEB DESK: Pakistan won a fifth gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, India.
The medal went to Muhammad Butt lifted the 105 kg weight in weight lifting challenge.
Pakistani swimmer Lianna Catherine Swan won a gold medal in the women’s 200m breaststroke on Saturday at the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, India.
Swan completed the competition in 2:48.85. Hasanthi Nugawela (2:49.17) of Sri Lanka came second while Romana Akter (2:49.60) of Bangladesh finished third.
This is Pakistan’s first gold medal in the South Asian Games 2016.
Pakistan also won a bronze in 4x100m freestyle quartet in the female relay while India won gold and Sri Lanka bagged a silver.
It was a good day for Pakistan at the Games with Zaman Anwar winning the gold medal in the 125 kg wrestling event while Pakistan’s Mohammad Azad Butt won silver in the 74 kg wrestling event
