ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Monday said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had revived PIA during the last two and a half years.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the 4th Art and Cultural Exhibition here at Lok Virsa, being held to commemorate the 37th anniversary of Iranian revolution, he said the PIA losses had touched Rs 30 billion mark in 2013, and the government during its tenure had improved its health.
The PIA now had 40 aircraft which were only 18 when the present government took over, he added. Pervaiz Rashid said that Prime Minster was committed to secure the jobs of PIA employees. PIA would prosper with more investments pouring into it.
He said,”The Prime Minister has pledged that no PIA employee will be sacked.” He, however, said the airline’s progress would ensure employees’ job security.
He said people suffer in case of strikes and the government has finalised alternate arrangements to continue PIA’s operations in case of any strike. He said the world sees Pakistan with ray of hope and acknowledges Pakistan sacrifices in war against terrorism.
We have common cultural heritage. People of Pakistan has elected Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for serving them. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif after taking over the reins of the government had announced his priorities including elimination of loadshedding, revival of economy, and ensuring better future.
Punctuality level of the PIA flights now stands at 82 per cent. Government wants to make PIA a viable, profitable and modern oranisation through enhancing investments. Government wants to arrange investments for PIA. The progress of PIA means enhanced income not only for institution but for for the benefit of employees.
He said alternate arrangements have already been in place to counter the strikes of PIA employees, they should stop contemplating about strike as it hurts the interests of the people. It is responsibility of the government to revive PIA. The culture of strikes and threats would never be accepted.
People of Pakistan wanted to make it a great country.Electricity is being produced through all sources including atomic,hydel, coal, solar and wind. Sacked employees would not be re inducted in service. The government is committed to exterminate terrorism from the country as well as from the region and world.
Pakistanis want to secure the whole world. We want to enhance the prestige of our passport. World wants to benefit from experiences of Pakistan, he said. In just two and half years, he said the world has started recognizing the sacrifices of Pakistan and progress made in elimination of terrorism.
World has lauded Pakistan’s efforts and the pessimism of people has also transformed into optimism. Earlier, the minister inaugurated the five day fourth exhibition along with ambassador of Iran Mehdi Hnardoost. There are many commonalities in bilateral relations of Iran and Pakistan. Iran was the first country to recognise creation of Pakistan in 1947.
Pakistan was the first country to recognise Iranian revolution in 1979. He said the importance and nature of our relations could be gauged by the observations made by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, when he told the first Pakistan ambassador to Iran, Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan, that he was going to a country with which Pakistan has the most cordial relations in the world.
Prime Minister’s initiative to visit Iran and Saudi Arabia earlier this month was driven by our commitment to promote harmony and unity amongst the Muslim countries, he added. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif feels pains of fellow Muslims.
Highlighting Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s efforts in promoting reconciliation between Iran and Saudi Arabia, he said Pakistan was duty bound to end tensions between two brotherly countries.
Pakistan nation was delighted on lifting of international sanction over Iran. Pak-Iran trade relations would be revived. Ambassador of Iran Mehdi Hnardoost, Cultural Counselor Shahabuddin Daraei also spoke on the occasion.Rector International Islamic University Dr Masoom Yasinzai was also present.
