WEB DESK: Hosts Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by five wickets to qualify for the finals of Asia Cup Twenty20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Bangladesh will face India on March 6 in the finals.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost early wickets but Sarfraz Ahmed 58 runs and Shoaib Malik 41 runs helped them to post defendable target of 130 runs.
In reply, Bangladesh had a solid start and their score was 34 for one after the powerplay. They were on 65 for the lost of two wickets after 10 overs.
Muhammad Amir came in the 13th over to bowl his second spell. On the second ball of the over, he bowled a magnificent yorker and departed Soumya Sarkar, who was playing well on 48 runs. That ball by Amir brought back the hopes of Pakistan in the game.
Bangladesh needed 26 runs in last 17 balls, when Muhammad Amir bold Shakib-ul-Hasan on 8 runs.
But two no-balls by Muhammad Sami in the 19th over made the game for Bangladesh and on 19.1 overs, Mahmudullah finished-off in style by hitting a winning shot on midwicket for four.
Man of the match goes to Soumya Sarkar for his 48 runs innings.
