PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Monday announced salaries and privileges for Local Bodies (LB), representatives across the province and said that all powers have been transferred to them.
He said this while addressing a convention of LB at Qayoom Sports Complex.
He said it was included in Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf manifesto to devolve power to lower level.
Khattak said that now, the KP Ministers would have no powers of fund spending. He added that LB representatives can spend the development funds as per the demand of the areas.
He said that 30 percent funds have been transferred to LB representatives to bring change and provide facilities to citizen at their doorsteps.
The CM asserted that the provincial government would further strengthen the LB system for the welfare and prosperity of the masses.
Speaking on initiatives taken by the government in the province, he said there is a real change in KP, adding that is being acknowledged by the people. He said the previous provincial governments were involved in nepotism, corruption and violation of merit in the appointments and other administrative matters.
He pointed out that PTI-led KP for the first time made police department an autonomous free from any influence and pressure. The initiative would help eliminate corruption from society.
On the occasion, he announced that total budget of LG would be increased from Rs43 billion to Rs50 billion in the next fiscal budget.
He said that the government has decided to give Rs40,000 monthly salary to District Nazims while Rs30,000 stipends to Naib Nazim, Town Nazim and Tehsil Nazim.
Similarly, Village-hood and neighborhood councilors would get Rs10,000 salaries per month. He also announced Rs10,000 monthly allowance for phone and Rs10,000 for office.
Meanwhile, the CM KP announced promotion of secretaries of local bodies.
