ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan batting superstar Javed Miandad wants Shahid Afridi to repeat his heroics in the previous match against Bangladesh now in Saturday’s make-or-break clash of the World Twenty20 at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
“Pakistan team surely learnt from the past. We have a very good team, very good bowling attack. Afridi has to bat up in the order. He must get maximum overs. He can be a terror,” Miandad said in a special NDTV show.
He said that providing security to Pakistan team was the duty of Indian government adding: “As Pakistanis we have felt this (security threat) before but once we land up, there is no security threat,” he said.
The former cricket great also praised Kolkata crowd stating: “Kolkata has only sports loving people. They are passionate. Sports should not be a war as the world makes fun of us (when we behave this way),” Miandad added.
Noticing that India didn’t play their opening match of the T20 World Cup well and lost to New Zealand, while Pakistan on the other hand did well in their first match, defeating Asia Cup runners-up Bangladesh convincingly he said: “Pakistan will give India tit-for- tat. World Cup is still open.”
