WEB DESK: Bangladesh is a second favorite team in Asia Cup after India with two back-to-back wins. Pakistan will fight Bangladesh in a must-win match in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Despite the absence of left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who is out of the tournament due to a side strain, Bangladesh is confident on winning the match.
“We have been struggling a bit with our starts in the tournament, and Tamim opening the innings will provide us solidity at the top,” said Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza.
“After that (defeat against India) loss, we were able to regroup quickly and come up with good performances” he said.
Head coach Waqar Younis and bowling co ach Azhar Mahmood spending a considerable amount of time with the team to iron out any possible chinks in optional practice sessions, according to Indian daily.
In past two matches, Pakistan’s bowling side has been tremendous in its effort to create powerful spell and maintain pressure on the opponent team but, the main concern has been inconsistent batting.
Waqar said: “In T20s, you are going to get into jail and out of it at times, and that is exactly what happened against UAE. We had problem but we have the ability to bounce back.”
“Unlike us, they (Pakistan) play T20s on a regular basis. They are an unpredictable side and we will have to be at our best in order to challenge them,” Mortaza said.
