WEB DESK: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has dismissed rumours and speculations about any change in the captaincy for the Twenty20 World Cup.
Khan said, “There are no plans to remove Shahid Afridi. He will remain captain of Pakistan till the T20 World Cup.”
He said the performance of Pakistan was disappointing in Asia Twenty20 Cup and we would make the players accountable for this.
“We have asked for advices from Misbah-ul-Haq, Younus Khan and International Cricket Council Chairman (ICC) chairman and former Pakistan’s legend Zaheer Abbas. There are many questions regarding the performance of the team. We will improve and move ahead,” he said.
Khan said he was not in favour of few players who had been selected for the World T20 Cup but selection committee opposed my concerns and later on they were selected after they took advice from captain and coach.
He further said, “We will definitely come up with some changes but we will think about it with cool mind instead of taking emotional decisions.”
Answering to a query, Khan said, “Three to four players were not fully fit who played in Asia cup T20. Who is responsible for this? I always talk about the fitness.”
“We will think about changing the captain, no doubt he is a match winner. Though, if there are any flaws in his capabilities, but it would not be a good sign to remove him at this time.”
The chairman PCB said Pakistan would not visit India, if it did not ensure security for Pakistan team.
