LAHORE: No Pakistani has yet applied for the post of head coach of the national cricket team while five foreign coaches have shown interest in the job, as the last date of submission of applications April 25 is just around the corner.
According to PTV Sports website, the foreigners who have applied for the said post are Australia’s Dean Jones, Tom Moody, Stuart Law and Jamie Siddons and South African Mickey Arthur.
The post fell vacant after Waqar Younis resigned owing to Pakistan’s recent poor show in the Asia Cup T20 and World T20 2016.
Earlier, Aaqib was seen as the main contender for the job but after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to find out a suitable head coach, Aaqib withdrew his nomination, alleging that the committee had already decided to cast a foreign coach.
Former batsman Mohsin Khan was also interested in the job of head coach but refrained to apply reasoning that Wasim and Ramiz were his juniors.
