PESHAWAR: Khyber Men grabbed gold medal as Komal win bronze medal in the ongoing First Quaid-e-Azam National Youth Games being played at Jinnah Sports Complex on Monday. Mehran Javed won individual gold medal after defeating Nouman of Sindh in the final while Asghar Khalil got bronze medal.
Komal on the other hand won bronze medal when she was beaten by Zarab Khan in the third position match.
Mehran Javed recorded victory against Nouman in a marathon five sets battle, the score was 11-9, 7-11, 11-9, 11-13 and 11-9. In the women Team event Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marched into semi-final after recording victory against Gilgit-Baltistan in their first match.
Asgha Khan beat Amamd Fareed by 3-0 in the third position match. Laiba Ijaz defeated Mehreen by 3-0, the score was 11-0, 11-1 and 11-0, Kainat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded victory against Roma while Komal defeated Rashida by 3-0, the score was 11-5, 11-6 and 11-4.
In the second match Chaman of Islamabad beat Sajida of Balochistan by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-7 and 11-9, Roheena of Islamabad beat Iqra while Aqsa of Islamabad recorded victory against Uzma Bibi to move to the semi-finals. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Football team also moved to the final of the Men football event after defeating Punjab by 5-0 in a one-sided affair.
For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Irsalan scored three goals including a hat-trick, first of the Quaid-e-Azam National Youth Games. In the hockey event semi-final Islamabad defeated Balochistan to reach the final played at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium.
In the first semi Islamabad defeated Balochistan by 2-1. Tayyaba scored both the goals for Islamabad while Anum scored the only goal for Balochistan. In the female football Gilgit-Baltistan defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 2-0 in the second time both played a re-match.
Gilgit-Baltistan first defeated KP by 11-0 wherein five of the Gilgit-Baltistan players were part of the departments which according to the Games rules did not allow to participate and on protest by KP the organizer instead of taking action decided a re-match by not following the rules of the Game.
The re-match according to PFF rules is to be played only when rain and other natural calamity stop the proceeding of the match. Sunahra Inayat and Shabana scored one goal each.
