ISLAMABAD: Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada on Friday said vital changes were being made in Pakistan Cricket Board and recommendation of making former captain Majid Khan chairman of the cricket board, Aaj News reported.
“If Pakistan cricket team does not play cricket according to nation’s desires, then they would have to bear the brunt,” he said while addressing National Assembly.
Riaz Hussain Pirzada said the national cricket team disappointed the cricket fans with their poor performance in World Cup Twenty20 2016.
“The government will take all the necessary steps to bring improvements in the cricket structure,” he said.
He said that as a short-term measures selection committee was being replaced while advertisement had also been given to hire a new coach. He said that T20 captain had already been replaced.
The minister said efforts were being made to review its past glory. Under short term measures, selection committee was being changed besides replacing the captain of the team, he said and added new coaches were also being hired.
Earlier, former head coach Waqar Younis said in his report that there was no cricketer in the board and all of the board was selected on nepotism basis.
