ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of the Standing Committee of National Assembly on Rules of Procedure and Privileges demanded salaries of Member National Assembly equal to federal secretaries.
The committee met here with its convener Shagufta Jumani, MNA in the chair. MNAs, Chaudhary Khadim Hussain, S A lqbal Qadri and officials of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs attended the meeting.
The body was informed that last year a summary in this regard had been sent to the Finance Division which assured to look into the matter.
An official of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs requested the members of the committee for a new summery of recommendations which will be sent to the Ministry of Finance.
The committee members said that a letter will be written to all provincial assemblies for reviewing their perks and privileges which was enjoyed by the members of the provincial assemblies.
They said that MNAs are drawing around Rs 36,000 basic pay which is less than a federal secretary,though they enjoy the status equal to the federal secretary.
