LAHORE: A delegation of Ulema-e-Karam, led by the Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, met the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore on Monday.
During the meeting, they decided to set up a joint committee for consensus on the Women’s Rights Protection Bill.
The committee, comprised of Ulema-e-Karam and government representative, will suggest necessary changes after going through the law.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister said government cannot even imagine to do legislation against the Quran and Sunnah.
He said that violence against women is a social reality, which cannot be denied.
Shahbaz Sharif said that violence against women is punishable in every religion and moral system.
The Head of Jamiat Ahl e Hadees Pakistan Allama Sajid Mir, the central leader of Jamaat e Islami Sindh, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, MPA Maulana Mehfooz Mashhadi and Maulana Amjad Khan were part of the Ulema delegation.
The State Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Aminul Hasnat, Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan were also present in the meeting.
