WEB DESK: After cancelling the Intra-party elections, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan restored all wings of the party on Thursday to bring about unity among the party’s ranks with a view to putting maximum pressure on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to hold free and transparent probe into the Panama Leaks and his family’s offshore companies.
Imran Khan said “this is the only way to bring change in the country by holding the powerful accountable.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the PTI chairman said Nawaz Sharif has flouted four laws of the country: committing of corruption, tax evasion, misrepresentation of facts to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and money laundering. He questioned where did the money come from which was transferred to Panama Companies? He said all opposition parties have united on a one-point agenda to hold probe Sharif family’s offshore companies, their assets abroad, Mayfair flats, source of their finances, income tax payments, “contradictory” statements about the ownership and years of purchase of Mayfair flats.
“This time even ‘Diesel’ [Maulana Fazalur Rehman] won’t be able to save him from strict accountability,” Imran Khan taunted Nawaz Sharif. He alleged that Lahore Metro Train’s commission will also go into leaders’ pockets as the commission earned from Metro Bus project will also be transferred to offshore companies. “This government has taken the biggest amount of loans in the history of Pakistan. However, due to lack of equipments and facilitations many people died in Layyah while Nawaz Sharif visited England for his medical check-up” He said Nawaz Sharif will not get answers to questions by addressing rallies and that the latter has announced a gas pipeline project for the fourth time in Mansehra.
He said PTI is holding a big rally here on Sunday at the Charing Cross as in cricket language “Net Practice” to hold Nawaz Sharif’s family accountable before marching towards Raiwand, He accused the PML-N of launching a ‘massive propaganda campaign funded by taxpayer money against political opponents’. PTI is taking up this matter before an appropriate court, he added. PTI chief said in a way Panama leaks have strengthened his party as all differences and divisions have ended in all ranks. He said everyone is busy befriending each other because of the Panama Leaks. Similarly, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen, Shafqat Mahmood and Chaudhry Sarwar have bridged their differences.
